From fighting with each other to fighting for each other, every moment they spent together becomes an unforgettable memory. And with Bhai Dooj just around the corner it is time to cherish and rejoice this loving bond. This day, sisters perform rituals and customs of the day for a long and happy life for their brothers and in-return brothers surprise them with gifts. But, the day is incomplete without the touch of delightful sweets and scrumptious snacks.

So, here are 5 delectable recipes that you can make for your brother/sister on Bhai Dooj and savour their taste buds.

1. Ragda Patties

Ingredients
This is one of the most popular and loved chaat item in North India. This chatpata snack also complements the bond shared by siblings. The best part about this snack is that it is filled with so many flavor and spices.

To make this chatpata snack at home, you need White Dry Peas/White Vatana, water, salt, oil, Hing, Cumin Seeds, Mustard Seeds, White Seasame Seeds, Crushed Peanuts, Curry Leaves, Fresh-minced ginger-garlic, onion, green chillies, tomato, Red chilli powder, Coriander Seeds Powder, Turmeric Powder, Amchur, Garam Masala Powder and cilantro to garnish.

Recipe
To prepare this snack, wash and soak vatana/dry peas overnight, then drain, rinse and pressure cook vatana with water and salt for 2 whistles. Take out a pan and heat oil, then add all the seeds with ginger-garlic and saute them till get light brown. After that add onions, green chillies and fry them till they become translucent and add all powder spices in it except amchur. Next, add tomato and add vatana/peas and mix well. If required, add more water and salt accordingly, then amchur powder and bring it to a boil and simmer for 5 minutes. To serve keep ragda/pattice in a bowl and pour ragda over it and garnish with cilantro, green chutney and onions.

2. Arbi Cutlet

Ingredients
Arbi cutlet also known as Colocassia cutlet is a delicious and different recipe made with minimal ingredients and simple spices.
The ingredients that makes this recipe irresistible are 16-18 Arbi pieces, Rice Flour, spices including Red chilli powder, Turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, Garam Masala and salt and oil accordingly.

Recipe
Start making this delicacy by washing Arbi and pressure cook them for 3 whistles, once it is done peel arbi and cut it into pieces. Take a plate or bowl and mix spices, oil, rice flour and mashed arbi pieces. Then in a plate take small amount of arbi mixture and roll in rice flour to coat all sides and now roll between both hands to form a smooth ball and flatten them to the shape of a cutlet and do same for the rest. In a wok deep fry the cutlets in medium heat till they become golden brown. Serve hot or warm with chutney or sauce.

3. Oats Tikki

Ingredients
If your brother or sister is health conscious, then you can try this healthy and delicious snack on Bhai Dooj.
To make this snack you would require quick cooking oats, potato, carrot, green chillies, grated ginger, chopped coriander leaves, spices, Roasted cumin powder, Fennel powder, Garam Masala, Chaat Masala, lemon juice, salt and oil as per taste.

Recipe
Start preparing this snack by boiling potato in pressure cooker for 3-4 whistles, once pressure is released peel and mash potatoes. Simultaneously, roast all the oats until light brown, keep stirring and keep aside ½ cup of oats. Then peel and grate carrot, chop green chillies and coriander leaves. Put mashed veggies, spices in a bowl and mix everything well to form a smooth dough and add the oats that were kept aside and you can also add bread crumbs if needed. Moving forward, divide the dough into 12 to 14 pieces and shape them round, oval or any other shape you prefer. Then mix maida, water to smooth paste and to make without any lumps. Dip tkki into maida mixture covering all sides quickly and then roll them in oats spread. Lastly, fry tikki in medium flame until golden brown and serve hot with sauce or green chutney.

4. Dry Figs Dates & Nut Rolls Recipe

Ingredients
This recipe is also known as Anjeer Khajoor Roll and it makes for a perfect dessert or snack because of its delectable taste.
You need Dry Figs/Anjeer, Dates/Khajoor, Walnut, Almond, Cashew Nuts, Nutmeg Powder, Desiccate Coconut, Water and Silver Varq as required.

Recipe
To prepare this snack, soak Dry Figs/ Anjeer in warm water. De-seed the dates and chop in pieces. Simultaneously, finely chop all the dry fruits, divide them in two parts and keep aside. Next is to soak, grind soaked figs without any water, add chopped dates and grind it to smooth paste. Now mix half potion from each chopped dry fruit along with figs and dates paste and make a soft pitiable dough. Add coconut to the dough, divide them into four pieces, and make smooth balls. In a plastic bag or ziplock bags keep a piece and cut the edges if required. Sprinkle almond, cashew or walnut and start to fold the layer into a roll and use plastic sheet for folding and keep the roll wrap in the plastic sheet with folded edges. Lastly, store the roll wrap in fridge for 2-4 hours or overnight, apply silver varq and enjoy this delight.
